Discover the Beauty of Natural Fibers
Sometimes, a simple change in the things we use every day can make our daily routines feel a little more thoughtful. Why not start with a kitchen cloth? Made from a blend of linen and ramie, this Japanese cloth has a distinctive, slightly crisp texture that celebrates the natural character of both fibers. Its understated, natural colors and beautifully textured surface bring a warm, organic touch to your home.
Woven using a traditional Japanese kaya weave, originally used for mosquito netting, the fabric is lightweight, breathable, and quick to dry. Ramie, a natural plant fiber long valued in Japan for its strength and absorbency, gives the linen blend its own distinctive character. The cloth feels slightly crisp at first, then gradually softens with washing and use, becoming more comfortable and familiar over time.
Whether wiping down the kitchen counter, cleaning up little spills, or simply keeping one close at hand, it's a lovely way to bring natural fibers into everyday use.
The smaller 10 × 10 in size includes a convenient hanging loop, while the larger 20 × 20 in size is also ideal as a kitchen towel or hand towel.
Made in Nara, Japan, by Mafu Okai, a textile maker carrying on the region's traditional hemp weaving heritage since 1863.
