Care & Maintenance

  • Wash out the starch with hot water before first use. The fabric may shrink slightly after the starch is removed.
  • Hand wash separately, as some lint may shed and transfer to other fabrics.
  • Do not pull on the edges, as threads may come loose.
  • Hang to dry in a well-ventilated area after use; do not leave damp for extended periods.
  • Avoid chlorine bleach.
  • Do not tumble dry.

A Natural Touch for Your Daily Bath

Bring the simple pleasure of natural fibers into your daily bathing routine. Made from a blend of linen and ramie, this Japanese body wash towel offers a beautifully textured alternative to conventional washcloths and synthetic bath towels. Its natural, slightly rustic feel becomes more pliable when wet, making it a lovely way to experience the character of plant-based fibers against your skin.

The unique three-layer construction combines two layers of traditional Japanese kaya weave, originally used for mosquito netting, with a layer of gauze. Lightweight and breathable, the fabric dries quickly when well ventilated and gradually softens with washing and use.

Its long, narrow shape makes it easy to hold at both ends and gently wash your back, shoulders, and other hard-to-reach areas. A simple, thoughtful addition to your everyday bath or shower.

Made in Nara, Japan, by Mafu Okai, a textile maker carrying on the region's traditional hemp weaving heritage since 1863.
